Septimus Brown
I believe in strong tea, flawed heroes, and unwieldy playlists.

I’ve worked as a horse-carriage driver, a language teacher, a sailboat crew member, a tie-dye clothing designer, and—briefly—a dog food entrepreneur. I once housesat in the jungle in Panama to get some writing done. That novel wasn’t publishable, but it taught me what kind of writer I wanted to be.

I write fiction that leans speculative, resists easy answers, and plays with form on purpose. I also edit fiction at the Darling Axe where I've co-authored two craft books (and counting)—Immersion and Emotion: The Two Pillars of Storytelling and Story Skeleton: The Classics.

When I’m not working on a story, I’m usually chasing down a stubborn idea, a trailhead, or a dog pretending not to hear me.
